A Holistic View of Health

Acupuncture and Moxabustion

Acupuncture allows the body to heal by regulating the flow of Qi. Qi is the name for the life force energy that courses through pathways in our body called meridians, or channels. It is measurable, electro-magnetic energy. It carries information that directs life. We live in a culture that only beliefs what can be seen by the naked eye. However, there's so much more to life than that narrow view. While most people can't see this subtle energy, anyone can learn how to feel it. I promise you, it's real. And it can also become obstructed in its natural flow, which then causes pain and illness. These symptoms of blockage can be felt physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Acupuncture can relieve the blockage and accompanying symptoms at any of these levels.

I think of acupuncture as the umbrella over all the other systems of the body, because it has an effect on the rest of them. Acupuncture will influence the nervous system, the brain, hormones, blood circulation, etc. That's why answering the question, "How does acupuncture work?" can be really difficult! However, there is enough research now to convince the medical community that it does indeed work.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is an incredibly sophisticated science. The herbs are powerful, and used in combinations called formulas in order to exert a very specific effect on the body. Because the effects are so specific, it's essential that the formula matches the imbalance in the patient. Chinese herbal formulas are often an important part of the treatment plan in order to get the best results.

Nutritional Guidance

It's essential to look at the diet when there is any health imbalance. Food can be medicine, and it can also be the cause of our symptoms. Many people who are seeking holistic health options like acupuncture have already started to work on their diets and are learning what helps and what harms. We will take another look through the Eastern Nutrition lens to see how we can optimize your diet for your unique constitution and challenges.

Meditation, Movement and Qi Gong

Keeping our Qi flowing doesn't just happen in the acupuncture clinic. There are simple things you can do every day to promote health and longevity. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are used when an imbalance has gotten out of hand. However, a good doctor will teach you how to prevent future illness or pain, and a good patient will learn how to implement that advice into their daily lives.
